William Chen

William received his B.S. in biology and M.D. in medicine from the Chung-Shan Medical University in Taiwan. He completed the internship and then served as a surgical resident before coming to the U.S. for graduate studies. William received his master’s degree in biotechnology from the University of Pennsylvania and Ph.D. in bioengineering from the University of Pittsburgh. His Ph.D. dissertation research focused on the role of blood-vessel-derived stem cells in cardiac repair and regeneration. William then completed his 1st postdoctoral fellowship in biomaterial and controlled release for heart repair at the University of Pittsburgh. William is currently a postdoctoral associate working with Prof. Timothy Lu at MIT. He is developing novel medical approaches using genome engineering toolkits.
